Series introduction

What lies beyond the familiar contours of coaching? What becomes possible when we loosen our grip on established structures?

Coaching Unbound is a 5-session Series for those ready to question where the limits of coaching truly lie. Through bold exploration, emergent dialogue, shared wisdom, reflection and development opportunities, we’ll test boundaries - professional, personal, and systemic - and rediscover the dynamic of coaching.

What is possible when you unbound yourself as a coach, and when coaching skills support other sectors and contexts: leadership, diplomacy, education, healthcare, parenting, social work - all walks of life - sometimes unbeknown?

We will investigate how a coaching mindset and skills can be adopted and adapted in communities and society for co-creating conditions for clarity and fairer conversations. What can we learn from each other’s lived stories? What can the profession of coaching demonstrate for people to be more intentional with building effective relationships?

We will unpeel and dive into the essence of ICF Core Competencies from which we can be fluid, natural and ‘unbounded’ as coaches, in leadership, and with presence in complex systems.

We will rediscover the heart of coaching.

When?
Each 90-minute online session offers a distinct lens: from the frameworks we inhabit, to where coaching shows up in expansive ways; from the role of the Arts in surfacing insight, to reimagining what it means to coach with ethical responsibility and creativity.

Who is This For?
Whether you’re curious about coaching, a newly trained coach or a deeply experienced practitioner, you’ll leave with fresh perspectives and audacity to take into diverse landscapes.

This is not your standard coaching series. It’s for those ready to move out of parameters that no longer serve well. This is an invitation to choose how you wish to show up in your work and the world in a more adaptive and human way.

➡️ SESSION 1 1 October - 6pm - 7:30pm (UK Time)

Peeking Beyond Boundaries

How defined are you by the structures of your professional and personal life? As a coach, what value might you miss by holding too tightly to the ICF Core Competencies?

We’ll question the habits shaping identity and practice, notice and look past imposed limits, and inquire what shifts in meaning and connections emerge.

For those curious about applying coaching traits beyond coaching - into caregiving, leadership, changemaking, teaching or community roles?

➡️ SESSION 2 15 October - 12:30pm - 2pm (UK Time)

Stepping Outside Boundaries

For adventurers ready to question fixed rules in coaching, organisational change management, and leadership development.

This discussion is about how boundaries shape practice within complex systems - not to discard them, but to spark insight, test new approaches, and reconnect with the intent behind the ICF Core Competencies.

A panel will challenge familiar thinking and open space for experimentation, expanding awareness and fresh possibilities in rapidly evolving fields. We hope that this session centres on what truly matters.

➡️ SESSION 3 29 October - 12:30pm - 2pm (UK Time)

Unbounding in Practice

Coaching existed long before it was a profession. Faced with a problem, how might a coaching mindset support action?

Where is coaching naturally showing up - in parenting, education, healthcare, leadership, communities or society? How is it fostering relationships and agency?

Stories from diverse experiences reveal coaching not as a role but as a skill, sometimes intentional, sometimes instinctive - an orientation already alive in the world for where it’s needed most.

➡️ SESSION 4 12 November - 7pm - 8:30pm (UK Time)

The Art in Coaching

What unfolds when coaching meets the creative? Can form and freedom exist together?

The Arts invite us to think beyond. This is a playful exploration of how metaphor, image, movement, and rhythm surface what words cannot. Coaching shifts from dialogue into a living medium, offering clients ways to fully express and discover meaning.

Are you intrigued about how artistic methods can open unexpected space for sense-making? Are the ICF Core Competencies a container from which growth is created?

➡️ SESSION 5 26 November - 7pm - 8:30pm (UK Time)

The Space Between

Where - and how - might we truly unbind? How do we hold both creativity and responsibility in our work?

This is a conversation to reflect and rethink the edges of coaching - not to test limits for their own sake, but to ask which serve well, and which need reshaping for meaningful connection in our relationships.

Participants are invited to bring lived experience - professional, personal, or in between - to unlearn and release inherited patterns and recommit with the essential.

Not a conclusion to the Series, but a pivotal moment to recalibrate: to choose our stance on boundaries and uphold a practice that is both open and anchored.
